From a remote place in Nyeri – Kenya, is a girl aged 15 years now and she is full of energy and loves art. But she has serious birth defects which many doctors shy away from. Allow me to introduce faith to you.

    INTRODUCTION OF A NEEDY CHILD
    Name: Faith Wanjiku Wanjiru
    Age: 15 Years
    Parent: Mary Wanjiru (Single Parent)
    Contact: +254711890504
Occupation: Un-Employed (peasant laborer in tea farms)
Origin: Kenya – Nyeri District – Mathira Division
Ailments: Born with several medical/physical defects

Brief description of the birth defects are: -
    1. She was born with both sexes (Male & Female)
    2. Her fingers are webbed i.e. not properly separated up to half way.
    3. One of her eye did not open. The eye ball appears to be there but fully enclosed with the un-opened eye lids. This has also led to un-even growth of the head.
    4. Her throat kind of never opened properly (didn’t develop properly) and thus she can not speak. Over time she has manage to make some noise.
    5. She has a hearing problem and does not hear properly.

    General Comments
Due to her borderline conditions, Faith could not be admitted in any of the special school since she is neither completely blind, deaf nor dumb. This left her with no option but to attend regular school where no special facilities or attention were available and the teachers not trained for such students.

She has attended clinics in several hospitals including Kenyatta National Hospital and was once schedule for remedial surgery at Kenyatta National Hospital which was cancelled twice without explanations. Sometime back I introduced her to the Kenya liaison officer, Next Right Thing – Miss Virginia Wangechi. I later relocated and lost contacts with Virginia Wangechi.

Due to poverty, her mother cannot afford the medical expenses that would result from her treatment and is also not able to do the necessary follow up and it appears she has resigned to fate.

This is to introduce Faith Wanjiku to your esteemed Organization and network of friends hoping that she will get assistance.

    Thank you.
